The new rock documentary Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars gets its U.S. television premiere Saturday, February 10, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime. Directed by Oscar-winning producer Lili Fini Zanuck, the film offers an intimate profile of the British guitar legend Clapton’s life, including his traumatic childhood, his rise to rock stardom, his struggles with drug addiction, and the tragic 1991 death of his young son, Connor. The documentary features extensive interviews with Clapton, as well as with his family members, friends and musical heroes, collaborators and admirers, either in new or archival footage — among them B.B. King, Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison and Duane Allman; Clapton’s ex-Yardbirds band mates Chris Dreja and Jim McCarty; his blues mentor, John Mayall; Roger Waters; and his former Blind Faith band mate, Steve Winwood. In creating Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars, the production team was given wide access to a wealth of archival materials, including performance clips, behind-the-scenes footage, photos, posters and other memorabilia, as well as Eric’s handwritten letters, artwork and diary entries. You can check out a trailer and preview clips from the doc at Showtime’s official YouTube channel.Copyright © 2018, ABC Radio.
