It’s been 50 years since The Beatles recorded their final album, Abbey Road, and in honor of that milestone, People magazine has produced a special issue dedicated to the Fab Four and how they spent that fateful year of 1969.

The 96-page issue — available now on Amazon and at newsstands for $14 — covers the Beatles’ final days together as a band with an intimate collection of photos and a track-by-track, in-depth look at all 17 songs on the Abbey Road album.

The issue also covers the fact that 1969 was an important year personally for The Beatles, with two of them marrying, one becoming a father, and all of them working on their first solo projects.

In addition, there’s a look at the famous Abbey Road studio where the Beatles recorded, as well as the famous crosswalk outside the studio that attracts countless fans each year, who all try to replicate the iconic Abbey Road cover.

One famous 1969 event that the Beatles weren’t involved in — the Woodstock festival — is also covered in the issue.  While the Beatles were reportedly invited to perform at Woodstock, the date apparently interfered with the recording of Abbey Road.  The issue features photos and memories from the festival — as well as John Lennon‘s reaction to it.

“Woodstock, the Isle of Wight — all the mass meetings of the youth — it’s completely positive for me,” Lennon said in 1969. “When you show your flag, you’re not alone.”
