Eric Clapton has announced a new live album entitled The Lady in the Balcony: Lockdown Sessions.
Following the cancellation of Clapton’s Royal Albert Hall concerts in May 2021, Clapton retreated to the English countryside and performed the same concert to an audience that consisted of only his wife – the inspiration behind the album’s name – instead of the 5,000 people that the Royal Albert Hall typically seats.
Described as “a unique performance for unique times,” Clapton is joined by his long-term band: Nathan East, Steve Gadd and Chris Stainton to revisit some of his most celebrated songs including ‘Layla,’ ‘After Midnight’ and ‘Key to the Highway.’ Also included are a handful of covers, including Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Black Magic Woman.’ Overseeing everything was Grammy-winning producer Russ Titelman, known for his work with Eric Clapton, George Harrison and Brian Wilson.

The album, which has been called “one of the most intimate and authentic performances of Clapton’s entire career,” is set to be released on November 12 on a number of formats (vinyl, CD, DVD) and can be pre-ordered here.
