An unheard song featuring two of The Beatles has been played in public for the first time after a man found the track in his loft.

The number, featuring George Harrison and Ringo Starr, was recorded more than 50 years ago but has only now been uncovered by the composer Suresh Joshi.

It was only during lockdown when Mr Joshi was speaking to family friend Deepak Pathak, that he encouraged him to try to find the tape in his loft.

Mr Joshi, 77, met the stars when he was recording music for a documentary at London’s Trident Studios in 1968, at the same time as the group was recording Hey Jude.

And together they recorded the song Radhe Shaam which was played for the first time at Liverpool Beatles Museum in Mathew Street on Wednesday.

Describing the moment he met Harrison, who died almost 20 years ago in November 2001, Mr Joshi said: “He was an intellectual figure who looked very successful but was very lonely in the crowd and I just picked up on that.
