On December 8th, 1980, the world lost one of its most talented musicians and enigmatic characters, when, at the age of 40, John Lennon was shot and killed in New York. On the eve of the 41st anniversary of his murder, new to iwonder comes Lennon’s Last Weekend, with a look at The Beatles legend’s honest and heartfelt final interview, recorded just 48 hours before his death.

In December 1980, Lennon and Yoko Ono had not spoken to the media for more than five years. With a new album to promote, Lennon agreed to speak with Radio One D.J. Andy Peebles of the BBC in New York.

John surprised everyone by candidly discussing a variety of subjects he’d never spoken about before, including The Beatles’ break-up, his relationship with Paul McCartney, his battles with addiction, political issues in the US and UK, his family, and his enduring love of Liverpool. He also discussed working with Phil Spector and David Bowie, and how he produced many of his solo albums, including classics such as ‘Imagine’, and ‘Give Peace A Chance’.
