A long-shelved Gary Wright album recorded in 1972 is heading to stores — with previously unreleased guitar tracks from George Harrison included.Ring of Changes, due out July 29 and available for pre-order now, is culled from sessions that took place after Wright departed Spooky Tooth and joined the personnel Harrison assembled for his All Things Must Pass LP. He subsequently formed the band Wonderwheel for his 1971 Footprint album, and planned for Ring of Changes to serve as the follow-up.“George was really my mentor. I really dove in and took it very seriously and started to meditate a lot. Our friendship endured over all the years. Sometimes we’d meditate together, we’d write songs together, and we’d take vacations together. It was quite a unique experience,” Wright told Smashing Interviews in 2014. “He was definitely one of my best friends … a special friend.”
