Denny Laine, the original lead vocalist of the Moody Blues, will perform at the Regent Theatre on Friday, Jan. 27 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Wings Over America tour. Laine, a British rock star, co-founded Wings with former Beatles star Paul McCartney and his wife, Linda. Laine stayed with the band for 10 years until it disbanded in 1981. During their time together, Wings created the album Band on the Run in 1973, which sold 6 million copies worldwide and was in the top 30 of the Billboard 200 as recently as 2010 when a remastered version of the album was released. The Advocate caught up with Laine to discuss his upcoming show at the Regent Theatre. This conversation has been edited for length and clarity.Q How did you and your band settle on the Regent Theater? Had you ever played there before?A Our local publicist knew the promoter, Brian Quinn of Last Dance Productions, who has produced a number of shows at the Regent Theatre over the years. It looks like a great old theatre and we’re excited to make our debut there playing the entire Band on the Run album alongside songs from throughout my career.
