Tributes have continued to flood in for the late Chuck Berry from the likes of Ringo Starr, Brian Wilson and Ronnie Wood. The rock ‘n’ roll legend passed away on Saturday (03.19.17) at the age of 90 and his legacy and influence has been praised by a string of musicians.Beatles legend Ringo Starr tweeted alongside a photo of Chuck: “R I P. And peace and love Chuck Berry Mr. rock ‘n’ roll music (sic)”And Beach Boys singer Brian feels the ‘Johnny B. Goode’ singer’s passing will affect all rock music lovers.He posted: “I am so sad to hear about Chuck Berry passing – a big inspiration! He will be missed by everyone who loves Rock ‘n Roll. Love & Mercy”Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie described the musician as his biggest inspiration.He said “He was one of the best and my inspiration, a true character indeed.”And his tribute was echoed by Lenny Kravitz. He posted: “Hail Hail Chuck Berry!!! None of us would have been here without you. Rock on brother!”The Jacksons recalled Chuck’s influence on rock’n’roll music in a social media post.They wrote: “Chuck Berry merged blues & swing into the phenomenon of early rock’n’roll. In music, he cast one of the longest shadows. Thank You Chuck.”Singer Martha Reeves is heartbroken by the news.She told the New York Daily News newspaper: “It’s breaking my heart to hear this … I love Chuck Berry.”He had a habit of getting all of his money and putting it in his guitar case and going on stage with it right there. I loved him for that. Best guitarist I’ve ever heard.”Chuck – whose real name was Charles Edward Anderson Berry Sr. – was the first person inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and the organisation has paid tribute to the “rock and roll original”.They said in a statement: “Chuck Berry was a rock and roll original. A gifted guitar player, an amazing live performer, and a skilled songwriter whose music and lyrics captured the essence of 1950s teenage life.”It’s fitting that he was the first person inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, as he influenced everyone who has picked up a guitar after him. Today, we celebrate his life. Hail Hail, Chuck Berry.”The ‘Roll Over Beethoven’ singer is survived by his wife Themetta ‘Toddy’ Suggs and his four children, Charles Berry Jr., Ingrid Berry, Aloha Berry and Melody Exes Berry-Eskridge.
