NORTH CANTON Friends of Camp Tippecanoe will hold a benefit concert featuring the Liverpool Legends at Fieldcrest Estate at 8 p.m. Aug. 10. The doors will open at 6 p.m.The Liverpool Legends — billed as “The Complete Beatles Experience!” — are four musicians and actors picked by Louise Harrison, sister of the late George Harrison of The Beatles. Her involvement in Liverpool Legends makes them the only Beatles tribute band with a direct family link to the original Fab Four.“Each member of the group is so close to the originals that I often feel like I’m transported back in time with the lads,” said Harrison. “These are exactly the kind of fun-loving, quality musicians that my brother George would have loved to hang out with.”Liverpool Legends are the only Beatles tribute band ever to perform Beatles songs on an album nominated for a Grammy Award.About YMCA Camp TippecanoeFor more than 60 years, YMCA Camp Tippecanoe has provided a home away from home for campers to become their best selves. Tippecanoe is a traditional residential camp for boys and girls ages 7 to 17 and offers Adventure Camp, Horse and Ranch Camps, Teen Camps, and Leadership Camps for 14- to 17-year-olds. While experiencing all that the camp’s 1,100 acres has to offer, campers make a connection with nature while trying new things and learning new skills. The camp is on Ohio’s largest undeveloped lake, Lake Clendening in Harrison County. As a branch of the YMCA of Central Stark County, the camp turns away no child for inability to pay. Scholarship funds exceeding $50,000 are awarded each year to campers. Most of the buildings at YMCA Camp Tippecanoe were constructed in the late 1950s and 1960s. Horse ranches were built shortly thereafter. Each cabin, building, and Foxfire Ridge Adirondack on the property creates a rustic aesthetic that sets Camp Tippecanoe apart from other area camps that have constructed new structures. The original 14 cabins on the property provide a sense of community for campers and hold a history that passes from generation to generation.Proceeds of the Aug. 10 fund-raiser will be dedicated to capital improvements at YMCA Camp Tippecanoe to ensure that the rich history of the property is preserved, and that the traditions and memories — old, new, and those waiting to be made — have a forever home.More information about the camp is available online at http://www.ymcastark.org/camp-tippecanoe.In 2016, the internationally acclaimed Liverpool Legends toured the world, with sold out performances for over 17,000 people at Arena Ciudad in Mexico City as well as in Guayaquil and Quito in Ecuador, India, Israel, Chile and Monterrey.Liverpool Legends headlined at the prestigious Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., in front of 68,000 people, an audience larger than The Beatles performed for at Shea Stadium. Liverpool Legends also received national attention when they re-created The Beatles’ famed 1966 concert at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.Liverpool Legends perform songs spanning the entire career of The Beatles and on through the solo years. Their performance includes costume changes, vintage instruments and special effects.
