Welcome to London

Welcome to London

Welcome to London!

As the career trajectory of The Beatles began to emerge, Brian Epsein realised that they should all be living in London, where the action was, Television Studios, Recording Studios, and of course London airport, to speed them on their way to worldwide success.

What was Liverpool’s loss was the world’s gain. Liverpudlians always looked down their noses a bit at the Capital City, which always seemed to get all the attention. They called it “The Big Smoke.” Until the Beatles became a worldwide phenomena, and then Liverpool was back in focus again, and remains so to this day.

And so it was that, in the Autumn of 1963, Brian found them a shared flat at 57 Green Street, which was OK for a little while, and by degrees, they each found permanent homes.

Brian always saw to it that they were properly looked after, and thanks to his trusty team of “handlers,” they were always in the right place at the right time, properly fed, suitably dressed, and full of vim and vigour to amuse the press and their audiences.

I hope my chapters about London will prove interesting and give you some background of how their lives here progressed.
